PURPOSE

This applet shows different examples of representation mechanisms that can be used to show the answers to location-dependent queries with location-granules. Please, allow some time for the applet to load (it may take a while). An alternative version for Java Web Start can be found here . In this other applet, we show how the use of location granules can also affect the semantics of the queries.

JVM version above 1.5 required, preferably Sun's Java Virtual Machine

CONFIGURATIONS

• The map on the left allows us to move the different reference objects (in this case, buses) by dragging and dropping them.
• The right side of the applet shows us different queries with different representations:
• Density representation: shows the relative density (using colors) depending on the number of buses in every granule.
• Bus line representation: shows the buses that are in the different granules of two different bus lines.
• Audible representation: plays a sound whose pitch depends on the distance from the bus1 object to the granule that represents the Centre french region.
• Every object (blue circle) can be dragged and dropped. The name of the selected bus is displayed down in the left side of the applet.
